Top tips from a Grade 9 student:

  1. Learn as much vocabulary as humanly possible: rule one of any language.

  2. Learn the past tense, present tense and future tense.

  3. Learn the conditional tenses, imparfait, futur simple, plus-que-parfait, and futur antérieur.

  4. Listen to a lot of French: listen to French music, French news, podcasts, YouTube videos, audiobooks, anything you can get your hands on.

  5. Write lots of practice essays in French.

  6. Ask your teacher for help if you need it.

  7. Practice speaking French with your friends.

  8. Be consistent: a wise saying is - if you don't use it, you lose it. Same thing goes with languages.

  9. Do practice papers.
